Hounslow Netball Finals

On Tuesday 7th March, we went to Heathland School in Hounslow to take part in the Borough Netball Finals for Years 5 and 6. Firstly, we played in a group with four other schools and were confident as we won all our matches. We then went straight into the semi-finals and played against Fairholme primary school. We felt more nervous before the semis but knew we could do it. It was a close match but we won 3-2. The final match was against St Mary’s and we felt extremely nervous before the game. It was a tense match and at full time the score was 1-1. It went into extra time but no goals were scored so then we had to play ‘golden goal’. We showed good perseverance and Mia scored a brilliant goal which won us the match and the tournament. We are the Hounslow Borough Netball Champions!

Throughout the tournament we demonstrated lots of Belmont values including:

Resilience – we didn’t give up even when some of our team got injured;

Respect and fairness – we showed good sportsmanship by shaking hands with all the teams we played and we listened to the umpires;

Aspiration – we aspired to last year’s team from Belmont who also won the tournament;

Cooperation – we worked together as a team to win.

We now have a couple of weeks to train before heading to the London Finals on the 23rd March.
