Year 6 visit The Houses of Parliament

On Monday 20th June 2016, year six eagerly boarded the coach (not only for the trip, but also to escape the pouring rain!) The coach then set off towards the Houses of Parliament.

It was rather daunting getting off the coach and spotting police officers by every door, however it made us feel very safe once we were inside. As we admired the stained-glass windows and busts all around the building, we were shown to a small room where we anxiously awaited meeting our local MP Ruth Cadbury. When she entered she introduced herself and we asked her questions about her fascinating occupation. Then we had lunch and were shown back to the beautiful hall where we entered from.

In the afternoon, we were split into groups for an interesting tour of the palace - unfortunately we couldn't go into the House of Commons or the House of Lords because (rather excitingly), the MPs were actually in there! Because of this, we got to see different parts of the palace that you wouldn't normally get to see. Overall, it was a very interesting trip that I won't forget in a hurry.
