Sport and physical activity

At Belmont, there is a focus on sport, physical activity and fitness to develop children's lifelong habits for a healthy active lifestyle.  As well as ensuring high quality PE within the curriculum, the School also encourages children to be active at lunchtimes and beyond the school day.

Competitive sport is a focus for many of the before and after school clubs with children training in sports such as football, netball, tag rugby, tennis, cross-country running and athletics.  The School competes against other local primary schools and our teams frequently progress beyond the local heats to the borough finals or London Youth Games.

The School works in partnership with Sport Impact, and through this  is a member of the Youth Sport Trust.  We have been awarded the School Games Kitemark (launched in 2012) in recognition of our provision for Sport and PE.   Sport Impact provides the school with expertise in this area, including  coaches to deliver extra-curricular activities.  We also train older children to act as Young Sports Leaders, encouraging other children into active play at lunchtime.
